Bill Summary
AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to residential solar tax credits
AI Summary
This bill amends the tax law to increase the amount of residential solar tax credits. Specifically, it increases the maximum credit from $5,000 to $10,000 for solar energy equipment placed in service on or after January 1, 2025. Additionally, for low-to-moderate income taxpayers or those residing in disadvantaged communities, any excess credit amount beyond their tax liability will be treated as an overpayment to be refunded, rather than carried over to future years. The bill also makes other technical changes related to the solar energy system equipment requirements and credits.
