This bill: 1. Declassifies certain data related to the registration and identification of farmed Cervidae premises and animals, except for location data, and allows the Board of Animal Health to disclose such data if it aids in law enforcement or protects public/animal health and safety. 2. Modifies requirements for owners of farmed Cervidae, including increasing perimeter fence height for commercial white-tailed deer herds, requiring immediate notification of escaped farmed Cervidae, allowing licensed hunters to kill escaped farmed Cervidae, and establishing civil liability for owners related to escaped Cervidae infected with chronic wasting disease. 3. Prohibits new registrations for possessing white-tailed deer, with exceptions for transferring existing registrations to certain family members. 4. Requires live-animal testing for chronic wasting disease in farmed white-tailed deer herds, mandates depopulation of infected herds, and transfers certain duties from the Board of Animal Health to the Commissioner of Natural Resources for farmed white-tailed deer. 5. Modifies the disposition of federal funds related to chronic wasting disease, requiring funds for white-tailed deer to be appropriated to the Commissioner of Natural Resources. 6. Appropriates funds to the University of Minnesota for developing chronic wasting disease contingency plans.
