This bill revises the law concerning family leave to extend protection by reducing, over time, the employee threshold from 30 employees to 5 employees in the definition of "employer." Specifically, the bill changes the definition of "employer" to include those with 20 or more employees starting on the effective date of the bill, 10 or more employees starting 365 days after the effective date, and 5 or more employees starting 730 days after the effective date. This expansion of the employee threshold is intended to provide more workers with access to family leave protections in the state of New Jersey.
