This bill amends the Arizona Revised Statutes to prohibit veterinarians from performing declawing (onychectomy) or tendonectomy procedures on cats, unless the procedure is for a therapeutic purpose that addresses an existing or recurring infection, disease, injury, or abnormal condition in the cat's claw that jeopardizes the cat's health. The bill requires veterinarians who perform these procedures to keep detailed records of the procedure for at least four years, and imposes civil penalties and potential license suspension or revocation for violations.
