This bill, the Stop Discrimination by Algorithms Act of 2023, prohibits the use of algorithmic decision-making in a discriminatory manner, requires covered entities (organizations that use algorithms to make decisions about important life opportunities like credit, housing, and employment) to provide notices to individuals about how their personal information is used, and mandates covered entities to audit their algorithmic practices for discriminatory impacts and report the results to the Office of the Attorney General. The bill also creates public investigatory and enforcement authority, as well as an individual right of action, to address violations of the Act's provisions.
