AI Summary

This bill, known as the Jaycee Webster Victims' Rights Act, amends the existing criminal procedure law in Maryland to require commitment units (the facilities that hold defendants or child respondents) to include the name and telephone number of the lead victim services employee of the state's attorney's office in the notification they provide to victims, victim representatives, or witnesses regarding the release from confinement of a sentenced defendant or child respondent. This additional information is intended to help victims, representatives, and witnesses access support services as the defendant or respondent is being released. The bill also clarifies the notification requirements for commitment units regarding events such as escapes, recaptures, transfers, and deaths of defendants or respondents.
