This bill amends the Illinois Dental Practice Act to address teledentistry. It defines teledentistry as the use of telehealth systems and methodologies in dentistry, including patient diagnosis, treatment planning, care, and education delivery for a patient of record under an Illinois licensed dentist's authority. The bill requires dentists practicing teledentistry to be subject to the same standard of care as if those services were being delivered in a clinic or office setting. It prohibits providers of dental services utilizing teledentistry from requiring patients to sign agreements limiting their ability to write reviews or file complaints. Additionally, the bill requires a dentist's written or electronic confirmation before a person can sell a clear aligner (a device used in orthodontic treatment) to a patient, and mandates the seller to maintain related documents for at least 7 years.
