This bill aims to expand medical assistance, known as HUSKY health benefits, to individuals who are otherwise eligible but ineligible due to their immigration status. Specifically, the bill: 1. Requires the Commissioner of Social Services to provide state-funded medical assistance to any person 15 years of age and younger, regardless of immigration status, who would otherwise qualify for HUSKY A (Medicaid for low-income families and individuals) but does not qualify for the Children's Health Insurance Program or employer-sponsored insurance. 2. Directs the Commissioner to study the costs and benefits of providing medical assistance to any person 25 years of age and younger, regardless of immigration status, who would otherwise qualify for HUSKY A, C (Medicaid for older adults and people with disabilities) or D (Medicaid for low-income adults), but does not qualify for the Children's Health Insurance Program or employer-sponsored insurance. The Commissioner must report on this study by January 1, 2025. 3. Expands the state-funded medical assistance program for children 15 years of age and younger, regardless of immigration status, to those with household incomes between 201% and 323% of the federal poverty level, who do not qualify for other health insurance programs.
