This bill amends the Georgia code to provide insurance premium discounts or rate reductions for property owners who build new residential or commercial properties, or retrofit existing ones, to better resist tornado, hurricane, or other catastrophic windstorm events. The bill defines "insurable property" and "insurer," and requires insurers to offer these discounts or reductions by March 1, 2025. To qualify, the property must be certified as meeting the Fortified Programs standards or other approved mitigation program standards. The bill also allows insurers to offer additional adjustments in deductibles or other credit rate differentials, and specifies how the actuarially justified rating plans should be submitted to the Commissioner.
