This bill prohibits insurers from refusing to issue or renew, or from terminating, professional liability insurance for healthcare providers solely based on prohibited bases for discrimination, including the provider offering or performing abortion, contraception, gender-affirming healthcare, or related services that are lawful in California but unlawful in another state. The bill also prohibits insurers from increasing premiums, imposing surcharges, or increasing deductibles solely based on these prohibited bases for discrimination. Additionally, the bill requires insurers to provide coverage for liability arising from the provision of these lawful healthcare services within the provider's scope of practice, even if they may be unlawful in another state.
