AI Summary
This bill, the Transparency in Policing Act, aims to enhance transparency and accountability in law enforcement by requiring all uniformed peace officers in Georgia to wear and use body cameras by July 1, 2025. It establishes guidelines for the use and technical standards of these body cameras, mandates regular inspections, and prohibits interference with required recordings. The bill also provides for public disclosure of body camera recordings, with some exceptions to protect personal privacy, and prohibits the alteration of such recordings. Failure to comply with the body camera requirements could result in the withholding of state funding for law enforcement agencies.
