This bill requires the State to take steps to create additional graduate medical education program slots focused on behavioral health care. Specifically, it directs the Commissioner of Human Services to apply for any necessary State plan amendments or waivers to secure federal Medicaid funding for these additional program slots. It also directs the Commissioner of Human Services and the Secretary of Higher Education to establish a process for new and existing graduate medical education programs to request and use Medicaid funds to establish the additional program slots focused on behavioral health care.
