This bill amends the Illinois Open Meetings Act to provide that a civil action for a violation of the Act's notice requirements can be brought within 60 days after the discovery of the failure to comply with the notice provisions. The bill also clarifies the timeline for when such civil actions must be brought, including within 60 days of the meeting alleged to be in violation, within 60 days of the discovery of the violation by the State's Attorney, or within 60 days of the decision by the Attorney General on a request for review. Additionally, the bill exempts records obtained by the State's Attorney for purposes of reviewing compliance with the Act from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.
