This bill amends the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act and the Regional Transportation Authority Act to provide free fixed-route public transportation services to senior citizens aged 65 and older who meet an income eligibility requirement, as well as to persons with disabilities who meet the same income eligibility requirement. The bill specifies that after an initial eligibility determination, an individual's eligibility for free services will automatically renew every 5 years upon submission of a government-issued ID card validating Illinois residency. For individuals with disabilities who have not submitted an Illinois Persons with a Disability Identification Card, they must also submit a document verifying their disability. The bill aims to continue the provision of free public transportation services to eligible seniors and individuals with disabilities in the Metropolitan Region of Illinois.
