This bill provides a public records exemption for information that may identify whether a particular individual has been assigned as a safe-school officer at a private school and is held by a law enforcement agency. The exemption is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act and will stand repealed on October 2, 2028, unless reviewed and saved from repeal by the Legislature. The Legislature finds it necessary to protect the identity of safe-school officers at private schools in order to maximize the effectiveness of their presence as a deterrent and in their role as first responders to incidents threatening the lives of students and school staff.
