This bill revises the manner of filling vacancies in party nominations resulting from the death or disqualification of a candidate after nomination but prior to the election. It requires a special primary open to the party of the nominee who died or was disqualified, and delays the election to be conducted as a special election with only the remaining candidates on the ballot. The bill also addresses the handling of vacancies in nominations for public offices at the state, county, and municipal levels, and the procedures for filling such vacancies. Additionally, it provides that any vacancy created by the withdrawal of a candidate less than 60 days prior to the election shall not be filled.
