This bill expands the definition of "victim of domestic violence" to include individuals aged 16 or older (previously 18 or older) and individuals who have had a dating relationship with the perpetrator, as well as parents of adopted children who have been subjected to domestic violence by the person whose parental rights have been terminated. The bill also clarifies the definition of "victim of domestic violence" to include any person who resides or has resided with the perpetrator, regardless of their household status. This change aims to broaden the legal protections and support available to victims of domestic violence in New Jersey.
