This bill amends existing New Mexico law to establish a 14-day waiting period for the sale of firearms, in addition to the existing requirement for federal background checks. The bill specifies that it is unlawful for a seller and buyer to complete a firearm sale by transferring physical control of the firearm to the buyer prior to the expiration of the 14-day waiting period, with certain exceptions. The bill also requires records of firearm sales to be available for inspection by law enforcement agencies during business hours.
