This bill renames the "Technology for Education Act" as the "Digital Equity in Education Act" and provides updated definitions, duties for the Public Education Department, and rulemaking authority. It creates a Council on Technology in Education to advise the department on educational technology standards, curricula, and addressing digital equity in public schools. The bill also creates the "Educational Technology Fund" to distribute money to school districts and charter schools for implementing the provisions of the Digital Equity in Education Act. Finally, it repeals several sections of the existing law related to the Education Technology Opportunity Program.
