This bill amends California laws to require defendants convicted of an offense that prohibits firearm ownership to relinquish their firearms within 48 hours if not in custody or within 14 days if in custody. It requires probation officers to report on the defendant's compliance to the court and prosecuting attorney, and authorizes the court to order a search warrant if the defendant fails to relinquish firearms. The bill also requires the Department of Justice to provide local law enforcement agencies and district attorneys access to information on individuals in their jurisdiction who are listed in the Armed Prohibited Persons System but have not provided proof of firearm relinquishment.
