This bill amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide a 50% reduction in the standard registration fee for passenger and light-duty motor vehicles for any Illinois vehicle owner who has been identified as a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, beginning with the 2025 registration year. The bill maintains the existing 50% registration fee reduction for active-duty military members stationed outside the United States for at least 90 days during the preceding year, as well as the registration fee waiver for the year following the return of active-duty or reserve component members who served in a combat mission. The bill takes effect on January 1, 2024.
