This bill aims to protect the privacy of social care information in California. It prohibits participating entities of a closed-loop referral system (CLRS) from selling, renting, or otherwise sharing social care information for monetary or other valuable consideration, except as required by law. The bill also prohibits participating entities from using social care information for purposes other than the original social care purpose for which it was collected. "Social care" is defined broadly to include services and support related to an individual's social needs, such as food, housing, transportation, and education. The bill does not affect obligations imposed by other applicable laws.
