This bill establishes the "medical malpractice premium assistance fund" in the state treasury, to be administered by the Office of Superintendent of Insurance. The fund will provide reimbursement to independent healthcare providers or provider groups not employed by a hospital or health system, for a percentage of their annual medical malpractice insurance premiums, based on the number of years they have practiced in the state. The bill also appropriates $70 million from the general fund to the Office of Superintendent of Insurance to implement this program in fiscal year 2024 and subsequent years.
