This bill requires law enforcement agencies in California, including municipal police departments, county sheriff's departments, and the California Highway Patrol, to ensure public access to their radio communications by January 1, 2025, with some exceptions for sensitive or confidential information. The bill also requires these agencies to enact policies to prevent the broadcast of criminal justice information or personally identifiable information obtained through the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) in a way that is accessible to the public. If the Commission on State Mandates determines that this bill contains state-mandated costs, local agencies and school districts would be reimbursed for those costs.
