This bill amends Section 36.210 of the Texas Utilities Code to make changes to the process for electric utilities to request periodic rate adjustments. The key provisions include: 1) allowing utilities to request rate adjustments up to twice per year, rather than once per year; 2) requiring the Public Utility Commission to review and approve the rate adjustments within 60 days; 3) providing more specific requirements for the adjustment process, such as how changes in customer numbers and weather-normalized energy consumption are accounted for; and 4) repealing the provision that limited the number of rate adjustments between comprehensive base rate proceedings. The changes in this bill apply only to proceedings that begin on or after the effective date of the act.
