This bill amends the Counties Code to allow sheriffs to authorize auxiliary deputies to wear plain clothes in matters the sheriff deems essential to preventing or assisting with disasters or events of civil disorder, as long as the auxiliary deputies are carrying proper identification while performing this function. The bill also changes the requirement that auxiliary deputies can only carry firearms while in uniform and in the performance of their assigned duties, to allowing them to carry firearms only while in the performance of their assigned duties.
