The bill requires an entity, as defined in the bill, that sells water withdrawn in this state to a recipient outside the state to submit to the department of natural resources (DNR), by January 31 of each year, a report detailing the origin of the water extracted within the state, the identity of each out-of-state recipient, the purpose of each out-of-state recipient’s water usage, and the amount of water in gallons that the entity withdrew in this state and sold to a recipient in the previous calendar year. DNR shall make the reports publicly accessible on the department’s internet site.
