This bill amends the Occupations Code to require the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners to adopt the 2015 edition of the International Plumbing Code, published by the International Code Council, as the plumbing code for the state. The bill also allows the board to adopt later editions of the code and permits municipalities and owners of public water systems to amend the adopted code to address local concerns, as long as the amendments do not substantially vary from the state's rules. The bill requires the board to adopt rules to implement these changes by December 1, 2023, and the bill takes effect on September 1, 2023.
