This bill amends the Local Government Code to change the age limit for taking an entrance examination for a beginning position in a fire or police department under municipal civil service. Specifically, it removes the upper age limit of 36 years for taking an entrance exam for a fire department position, and increases the maximum age for temporary employment as a firefighter or police officer from 36 to 45 years old. The bill also repeals the provision that prohibited individuals 45 years of age or older from being certified for a beginning position in a fire or police department.
