This bill appropriates a total of $33 million in funding from the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for grants to various children's museums across the state of Minnesota. The funds will be used for capital improvements, including predesign, design, construction, renovation, furnishing, and equipping of new museum buildings, expansions, and exhibits. The grants are provided to specific children's museums, such as the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota, Great River Children's Museum, Judy Garland Children's Museum, Otter Cove Children's Museum, WonderTrek Children's Museum, Duluth Children's Museum, The Works, Wheel and Cog Children's Museum, The Village Children's Museum, and the Children's Discovery Center. The appropriations are available until the respective projects are completed or abandoned, and are effective the day following final enactment.
