This bill establishes a prepared meals grant program within the Minnesota Department of Human Services to provide hunger relief to Minnesotans experiencing food insecurity and who have difficulty preparing their own meals due to limited mobility, disability, age, or lack of resources. The program will provide grants to eligible nonprofit organizations with a history of providing and distributing customized prepared meals to diverse populations at greater risk of food insecurity. The bill appropriates $5 million in fiscal year 2023 and $5 million in fiscal year 2024 from the general fund for this purpose.
