This bill relates to advance directives and health care treatment decisions made by or on behalf of patients, including a review of those directives and decisions. It amends existing law to limit liability for medical procedures performed to facilitate a patient transfer, requires ethics or medical committees to consider the patient's well-being when reviewing a physician's refusal to honor an advance directive, prohibits committees from considering a patient's disability unless relevant to determining medical appropriateness, and requires health care facilities to report data on these review processes to the state. The bill also makes changes to the notification and revocation of Do-Not-Resuscitate orders.
