This bill prohibits public school employees from assisting students with "social transitioning," which is defined as a person's transition from their biological sex to an alternative gender identity through the adoption of a different name, pronouns, or other gender expressions. It requires school districts to adopt policies prohibiting such assistance, and if a district is found to have violated the policy, the commissioner of education must withhold state funding from the district. The bill applies to both traditional public schools and open-enrollment charter schools.
