This bill requires school districts in New Jersey that include grades 9-12 to incorporate instruction on the potential risks of compulsive gambling into their curriculum for students as part of implementing the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education. The instruction must cover the dangers of gambling addiction, risks to personal finances or assets, and the differences between probability and predictability. The Commissioner of Education is tasked with providing sample learning activities and resources, as well as developing a training module for high school teachers on compulsive gambling behaviors, indicators, and treatment implications.
