This bill, titled the "Future Uses of Technology Upholding Reliable and Enhanced Networks Act" or the "FUTURE Networks Act," directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish a "6G Task Force" within 120 days of the bill's enactment. The task force will be composed of representatives from the communications industry (excluding "not trusted" entities), public interest organizations, academic institutions, and various levels of government. The task force is required to publish a report within one year on the status of industry-led standards-setting for 6G technology, potential uses and limitations of 6G, and how to best work with different government entities to leverage 6G technology. The bill also defines key terms such as "not trusted," which refers to entities owned, controlled, or influenced by foreign adversaries or deemed a threat to U.S. national security.
