This bill relates to the issuance of K9s4KIDs specialty license plates. The bill requires the Texas Department of Transportation to issue these specialty license plates, which were designed in consultation with the K9s4KIDs organization. The revenue generated from the sale of these license plates, after deducting administrative costs, will be deposited into the state's general revenue fund to be used by the Texas Education Agency to make grants to nonprofit organizations for the purpose of funding the purchase of police dogs by public or private primary/secondary schools or institutions of higher education. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2023.
