This bill amends the Education Code to prohibit public institutions of higher education from establishing or maintaining "diversity, equity, and inclusion offices," hiring or contracting with individuals to perform such duties, or requiring diversity, equity, and inclusion training for students or employees, except as required by federal law or approved by the institution's general counsel and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The bill also requires governing boards to adopt policies for disciplining employees who violate these provisions and mandates periodic audits by the state auditor to ensure compliance. Additionally, the bill allows public institutions to provide letters of recommendation to employees whose positions are eliminated due to the implementation of these changes.
