This bill aims to enhance the educational outcomes of expectant and parenting students. It requires the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to publish a model policy for expectant and parenting student policies and a list of resources, best practices, and research to help these students stay in school and increase their graduation rates. The bill also establishes expectant and parenting student liaisons in certain high-need school districts to help these students develop individualized graduation plans, connect them with support services, and inform them of their rights under Title IX. Schools are required to report data on the academic achievement, graduation rates, and post-secondary enrollment of parenting students. The bill also prohibits school staff from forcing or coercing expectant or parenting students to inform their parents or guardians of their status.
