This bill aims to provide equity to police officers disabled by cardiac disease. Specifically, it amends the existing law in Chapter 32 of the General Laws to include police officers from additional entities, such as the University of Massachusetts, Massachusetts Port Authority, state universities and community colleges, and the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, under the provisions for disability coverage related to cardiac disease. This expansion ensures these additional groups of police officers have the same access to disability benefits as other police officers in the state.
