This bill aims to promote the recruitment and retention of hospital workers in Massachusetts. It establishes a Hospital Workforce Training & Apprenticeship Trust Fund to provide support for eligible accountable care organizations, acute care hospitals, and their affiliated healthcare providers. The fund will be used to finance training, registered apprenticeships, and other educational programs for the hospital workforce, including initiatives to attract a culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse workforce. Additionally, the bill requires the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, in collaboration with the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, to establish a marketing and public information campaign to promote the recruitment and retention of acute care hospital workers. Finally, the bill creates a Hospital Short Staffing Task Force to address workforce recruitment and retention challenges at Massachusetts acute care hospitals and make recommendations for improvements.
