This bill amends the existing law to expand the reasons for which an individual can take family leave under the Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program. Specifically, the bill adds a new provision allowing individuals to take up to 8 weeks of family leave to cope with the death of a family member, during which they will receive paid benefits for 2 of those weeks. The bill also clarifies that leave for bereavement can be taken intermittently or on a reduced schedule, and provides guidance on the types of documentation that can be used to certify the need for such leave.
