This bill extends the civil statute of limitations for child abuse cases in Massachusetts. It allows victims of child abuse to file a civil lawsuit within 35 years of the abusive acts or within 7 years of discovering the emotional or psychological injury caused by the abuse, whichever is later. The bill also allows victims to file a civil lawsuit against individuals or entities who negligently supervised the person who abused them or whose conduct contributed to the abuse, with the same time limits. The bill applies retroactively, meaning it revives previously time-barred claims.
