This bill amends Chapter 118I of the General Laws to require healthcare providers to supply patients or their authorized representatives with complete and current information about their diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis within 15 business days of receiving a written request, in terms and language the patient can reasonably understand. Additionally, the bill requires providers to promptly furnish, at a reasonable cost, copies of a patient's full health record or the portion related to a specified condition within 15 business days of a written request, except that providers may exclude written speculations about the patient's health condition, as long as all information necessary for the patient's informed consent is provided.
