This bill amends the existing laws related to motor vehicle service contracts in Massachusetts. It provides new definitions, including for "consumer product", "motor vehicle distributor", and "motor vehicle manufacturer". It also redefines the term "service contract" to include contracts for the repair or replacement of tires, removal of dents, and repair of windshield chips or cracks on motor vehicles. Additionally, the bill prohibits motor vehicle manufacturers, distributors, or franchisor representatives from requiring or coercing dealers to exclusively sell the manufacturer's own extended service contracts or maintenance plans. The bill also exempts certain types of warranties, service contracts, and maintenance agreements from the relevant sections of the law.
