This bill amends Section 3 of Chapter 62 of the General Laws to expand the types of commuter transit benefits that are eligible for tax deductions. Specifically, it allows the deduction of bikeshare membership fees, as well as Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority or regional transit authority fares, rather than just weekly or monthly transit passes. Additionally, the bill reduces the maximum deductible amount from $150 to $50 and provides a definition of "fare" to clarify that it includes payments for single trips, multiple trips, or unlimited trips within a set time period on public transit.
