This bill establishes a domestic violence and sexual assault probation unit within the superior court, Boston municipal court, and probate and family and district court departments. The unit will consist of a domestic violence and sexual assault victim advocate who will serve as the liaison between victims and probation officers, as well as probation officers who will be exclusively assigned to domestic violence and sexual assault cases. The bill also amends existing laws to require that individuals who violate protective orders or commit certain domestic violence or sexual assault offenses be subject to the condition of participating in a certified batterer's treatment program.
