This bill establishes a Master of Library Science (MLS) assistance program in Massachusetts. The program, administered by the Board of Higher Education, will provide grants to cover full tuition for public librarians in the state who are currently working at a public library and are planning to or are attending an institution of higher education, either within Massachusetts or through the New England Board of Higher Education's Regional Student Program, to earn an MLS degree. The Board of Higher Education will set the rules and regulations for the program, including the criteria for academic, leadership, extracurricular, and other achievements needed to qualify for the grants.
