This bill establishes a written statewide protocol for pharmacists to test or screen for, and initiate treatment or therapy for, qualified health conditions such as influenza, streptococcal infections, COVID-19, HIV, and any other conditions approved by the Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacists can collect specimens, oversee collection, and send them to authorized laboratories for testing. They can also delegate tasks to pharmacy technicians and evaluate results to initiate treatment. The bill requires insurance carriers and pharmacy benefit managers to develop codes for pharmacy compensation and prohibits them from denying reimbursement for services and procedures performed by certified pharmacist clinicians or pharmacists certified to provide prescriptive authority services within the scope of their license, at the standard contracted rate.
