This bill establishes the Accessibility in the Creative Economy (ACE) grant program, administered by the Office on Disability, to support capital improvements and projects that improve programmatic access and remove barriers encountered by persons with disabilities in for-profit, non-profit, and public organizations in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences sectors in Massachusetts. The program is funded by designating at least half of one percent of the appropriations for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, as well as any other donations or funds. A board composed primarily of individuals with disabilities and disability advocates will make recommendations on the grant criteria and eligibility, which includes training, consulting services, capital improvements, and planning for accessibility compliance. The program aims to promote racial, geographic, and programmatic diversity in the cultural sector.
