This bill amends the Massachusetts General Laws to require all senior housing facilities financed or subsidized by state or federal programs to provide emergency lighting in residents' rooms for at least 1.5 hours during power outages. It directs the Department of Public Health to set standards and regulations for the emergency lighting systems, and allows the department and local health boards to inspect the facilities and notify the managing authority of any non-functioning lights. The bill also establishes a process for the managing authority to remedy any violations, including within 60 days for non-functioning lights, and allows for civil fines if the violations are not addressed.
